Lift Your Eyes To The Lord
Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us. Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud. Psalm 123
In Psalm 123 we peer into the heart of the Psalmist. We see the intense desire of his heart for the Lord to intercede. The passage reveals his dependence upon the Lord and his assurance that the Lord will step in and answer his request. Just as the Psalmist set his eyes towards the Lord we also have the same wonderful opportunity. We are told to let our requests be made to Him. Jesus instructs us not to worry about our life but to seek first the kingdom. Paul would say to us to be anxious for nothing but to pray about everything. This doesn’t just mean to pick up the phone and ask the church to be praying for you. This means you look expectantly to the Lord and wait upon Him for the answer. I think the majority of us don’t take this opportunity to call out and wait upon the Lord. Because we fail to do that perhaps we are missing out, “you have not because you ask not.”
In this passage he gives the illustration of a servant looking to the hand of the master. The servant was aware of his need for the masters provision. So to in our case. We look to Him who “dwellest in the heavens” to meet our need. He has what we need and also the ability to give to us that which we need. So what is it that you lack? Whatever it may be He is waiting on you to make your request to Him. Turn to him and wait for His provision.

I enjoy your devotionals! It took me a while to learn that the Bible tells us to pray about even the little things, and of course, the BIGGIES.. but it also says our problems are common.(not insignaficant) 1Corinthians 10:13 NIV says, No temptation [trial or problem] has seized you except what is common to man.
God is faithful; he will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. But when I’m tempted, He will also provide a way out so I can stand up under it. In other words, my problem is not unusual. God has seen it before, and He has promised to provide a way for me to stand up under it!
So instead of magnifying my problem, I tell my big problem about my huge God! Psalm 34:3 says, O magnify the Lord with me. Make God bigger, and according to His Word, I begin to see a change in my life!
